ICF “Assistance to Victims of Road Accidents” would like to thank all concerned people and donors who joined the nationwide charity campaign “Donate Blood – Save Lives”, which lasted throughout the All-Ukrainian Road Safety Week.

During the week, a total of 2,500 liters of donated blood was collected – a record amount for recent years. In particular, almost 60 donors responded to the urgent need of the Kyiv City Blood Center within a few hours, and together they managed to collect 25 liters of blood: this means a chance at life for more than 150 people who needed transfusion support. In total, almost 150 donors came to the Kyiv City Blood Center during the week.  Many people also joined the charity campaign at regional blood transfusion centers.

We are especially grateful to the regular donors from the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the Patrol Police Academy, the Patrol Police of Ukraine, the Security Police, and other departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and Ukrtransecurity.

Donating blood during wartime is not only a noble cause, but also a huge necessity. Right now, replenishing blood banks is especially important, as there is a serious shortage of blood in the country. Therefore, we urge you to follow the announcements of blood centers, which are currently working in enhanced mode, and donate blood not only during campaigns.

We remind you that before a donor can undergo the procedure again, they must wait at least 60 days for recovery; plasma can be donated after 30 days. Men are recommended to donate blood no more than 5 times a year, women – 4 times a year.
