ROUND TABLE “TRANSPORT SAFETY IN CONDITIONS OF MARTIAL LAW”

The 2nd Stage of the national Road Safety Week is taking place in Ukraine from November 14 to 20.

Within the framework of the Week, on November 14, 2022, a round table on transport and road safety in conditions of martial law was held at the Ukrinform news agency, on the initiative of Kyiv Interregional Branch of the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Research Institute of Transport Medicine” of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

The event was attended by the Volodymyr Kreidenko – Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Transport and Infrastructure; Serhii Horodko – Deputy Head of the Road Safety Department of the Department of Patrol Police; Yehor Nazymko – First Pro-Rector of the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs, Doctor of Law, Police Major (via Zoom); Oleh Yeresko – General Director of the Directorate of Preschool education, Out of Schools and Inclusive Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine; Oleksii Danylenko – Acting Director of the Directorate of Public Health and Disease Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine; Oleksandr Pohorilyi – Deputy Head of the Center for the Implementation of Digital Innovations of the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs; Serhii Aleksandrov – Deputy Head of the Transport Safety Department of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine; Yurii Martsenyshyn – First Deputy Head of the State Service of Ukraine for Transport Safety; Oleh Fedorenko – Head of the Operational Maintenance and Road Safety Department of the State Road Agency of Ukraine; Bohdan Tymchenko – Chief of Service of the municipal enterprise “Center of Road Traffic Organization”, Kyiv; Oleksandr Soskin – Head of the Department of Preventive Activity of the Motor (Transport) Insurance Bureau of Ukraine; Viktor Romanov – Development Director of Kvinto Plus LLC, Representative of Mobileye in Ukraine.

During the event, experts from transport and infrastructure, national police discussed the situation with road safety in Ukraine; legislative initiatives and changes related to traffic rules, in particular draft laws that oblige Ukrainians to wear reflective elements in the dark; state of road accidents and the work being done to eliminate it; temporary changes regarding the validity of driver’s licenses and vehicle registration during martial law; state of road accidents involving licensed vehicles; educational programs for young road users.

 

As the Director of the separate division of the “Kyiv Interregional Branch” of the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Research Institute of Transport Medicine” of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine Yurii Chornyi noted during his speech, this year’s Week in Ukraine is held at a difficult time for the country, but despite the war, more than 250 cities of the country and almost all regional military administrations were willing to join its events.

 

“We have received offers from the regions and information that several cities are ready to join the events. Therefore, I would like to thank both mayors and heads of regional military administrations for the opportunity to promote the events of Road Safety Week, which aims to draw public attention to the problems of road traffic injuries in the country”, said Yurii Chornyi.

 

Yurii Chornyi also told about the events that are taking place in Ukraine within the 2nd stage of the Week. In particular, among them – the international scientific and practical conference “Implementation and development of public policy in the field of road safety during the war and in post-war period”, which will be held at the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs on November 18.

 

We would like to remind you that International Charitable Foundation “Assistance to Victims of Road Accidents” in cooperation with State Enterprise “Ukrainian Research Institute of Transport Medicine” of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine will traditionally join the organization and participation in the events of the annual Road Safety Week.

 

In particular, within the framework of the Week thematic online lessons and classes with students will be held in educational institutions (materials for lessons developed jointly with the Ministry of Education and the ICF “Assistance to Victims of Road Accidents” can be found on the Foundation’s website in the Unified National Lesson section).

 

Traditionally, Ukrainians will be able to join the charity blood donation campaign “Give blood – save lives”. You can give blood for the victims of road accidents in all Blood centers in Ukraine (during the week, in accordance with donor’s reception hours).

Also, on November 15, a photo exhibition “Youth for road safety” of the annual All-Ukrainian competition within the project “Safe Country” has started on the Foundation’s website.

 

Also, the works of the participants will be presented offline at the exhibition, which will be held at the Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs (in Kropyvnytskyi and Kryvyi Rih).

 

The results of the competition and announcement of the winners of the 5th annual All-Ukrainian social photo and video works competition within the national project “Safe Country” will be held on Wednesday, November 16 (on the YouTube channel «Безпечна країна» (“Bezpechna kraina”)).
