According to the National Police of Ukraine, the rates of road traffic injuries and deaths in Ukraine remain high. In January-May 2020, there were 57,929 road accidents in Ukraine, which is only 3.7% less than in the same period last year, in which 1,209 people died and 11,000 were injured. In May of this year alone, 226 people died on the country’s roads and almost 2,500 were injured.
Only the road safety data are slightly better, which is obviously due to quarantine restrictions – the number of accidents involving children in Ukraine decreased by 18% compared to the same period last year, by more than 20% there were fewer children injured and killed.
