TRAINING “WE KNOW AND ACT”!

The International Charitable Foundation “Assistance to Victims of Road Accidents” with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Research Institute of Transport Medicine” of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, with the active participation of partners: Patrol Police of Ukraine, State Service of Ukraine for Transport Safety and State Emergency Service held an educational event-training on life safety for children of the Kyiv Specialized School І-ІІІ levels № 155 with In-Depth Study of English. The event was held as part of the national project “Safe Country” and on the occasion of the 1st stage of the All-Ukrainian Road Safety Week.

It was a fascinating interactive game for pupils: they had to go through 6 locations, gain knowledge, and learn new skills. These were not ordinary lectures or lessons, but practical classes, including special equipment for police and firefighters, and streets with traffic, and mannequins on which they could master practical skills in providing premedical care. The locations included: master class on provision of premedical care; lesson on road safety: safe way to home, road traffic peculiarities for cyclists; training in traffic rules; workshop on promoting the use of reflective elements for road safety; training on the rules of behavior in case of fire, with mine-explosive devices; lesson on transport safety. Police officers, firefighters and premedical care instructors shared their professional knowledge with the children.

Pupils of 5-11th forms were interested in everything, they received answers to many questions, and were actively learning and practicing. For example, during a master class on provision of premedical care, the pupils were particularly interested in the practice of stopping bleeding, so they asked questions and practiced applying tourniquets repeatedly. At the safety lesson, they learned how to properly move on the road for cyclists to avoid getting into an accident, what elements to equip a bike with and how to mark themselves on the road… A particularly important topic today is the rules of behavior in case of fire and with mine-explosive devices, so there was undivided attention and a lot of children’s questions.

The ICF “Assistance to Victims of Road Accidents” thanks its partners for active participation in the event, and special thanks to the teachers and children who were so energetic and persistent in their desire for new knowledge. We are convinced that they will share this knowledge with their peers and family. So, let’s learn together, because a SAFE COUNTRY starts with each of us!
