Road Safety Week in Ukraine May 17-23, 2021. General Plan
Ukraine joins the 6th Global Road Safety Week, which will take place from 17 to 23 May 2021. The week opens the Second Decade for Road Safety for 2021-2030, approved by UN General Assembly Resolution 74/299 at its 74th session in August last year, with the ambitious goal of reducing the number of deaths and injuries as a result of road accidents by 50% by 2030. The world community has launched a number of measures aimed at qualitatively improving the situation with the problem of road accidents.
The theme of the 6th Global Road Safety Week will be to limit the speed of vehicles to 30 km / h within residential and pedestrian areas in cities with the slogan #StreetsForLife#Love30. The safety of city streets is about safe speeds, proper transport infrastructure, alternative modes of transport, safe behavior for road users, etc.
In order to support the goals of the Decade and global issues, Ukraine holds the traditional Road Safety Week – the first stage in the spring from 17 to 23 May 2021 and the second stage in the autumn – from 15 to 21 November 2021.
During the first stage, various events are planned, including a press conference, an online forum on road safety, thematic workshops, a single national online lesson on road safety in secondary schools, the start of an all-Ukraine photo and video work among children and youth “Safe Country”, a national charity event to donate blood for victims of the accident “Give blood to save lives” and many others.
The All-Ukraine Road Safety Week is held annually with the support of the Government of Ukraine, with the involvement of relevant government agencies and structures, the public and the media.
