NOVEMBER 20, WORLD DAY OF REMEMBRANCE FOR ROAD TRAFFIC VICTIMS

Every year, in Ukraine, as all over the world, in accordance with the UN Resolution, on the third Sunday of November, the events are held to mark the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims.

Road accidents remain the leading cause of death among young people aged 15-29 years.

In general, every year, 3 thousand people die worldwide as a result of road accidents and about 100 thousand are seriously injured.

The main causes of road accidents are often speeding, alcohol consumption, lack of vehicle technical inspection programs and devices that ensure the safety of drivers and passengers.

According to the UN decision, the third Sunday of November is declared as the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. The purpose of this day is to commemorate the victims of road traffic accidents and express condolences to their families, as well as to draw attention to the terrible extent of mortality on the roads and to remind states of the need to ensure road safety.

On this day, memorial liturgies for the victims of road accidents will be held in temples of all denominations of Ukraine.

The International Charitable Foundation “Assistance to Victims of Road Accidents” joins these activities and expresses its sincere condolences to those who lost their relatives and friends in road accidents.

On the Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, we appeal to drivers to turn on the low beam headlights on their cars in solidarity and support, thus honoring the memory of those killed in the road accidents.

We remind you of the importance of following the safety rules on the road. Be careful and aware, take care of yourself and your loved ones!
