From November 9 to 15, 2020, Ukraine will host the Road Safety Week. Action plan

From November 9 to 15, Ukraine will host the annual National Road Safety Week (Stage II), aimed at drawing public attention to the problems of injuries and deaths on Ukrainian roads, raising public awareness of the rules on the road, as well as develop professional solutions for ways and measures to increase the level of road safety in Ukraine.

Taking into account the epidemic situation, most events will take place remotely and online. The following events are planned to be held during the Week:
  • November 9 – press conference on the occasion of the beginning of the 2nd stage of the Road Safety Week (NA “Ukrinform”, Kyiv, 11.00-12.00, online broadcast on the news agency’s website and on the Road Safety Week page on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/tbdrua/ );
  • November 10 – II International Congress on Transport Safety (online, broadcast on the Youtube-channel Safe Country http://www.youtube.com/c/Безпечнакраїна, 10.00 – 16.00);
  • November 11 – solemn awarding of the winners of the III annual All-Ukraine competition of social photo and video works of the national project Safe Country. (The broadcast will take place on the youtube channel Safe Country http://www.youtube.com/c/Безпечнакраїна, 10.00-14.00);
  • November 12 – National campaign Give blood to save lives to donate blood for the treatment of victims in traffic accidents (in compliance with all anti-epidemic measures, National Children’s Specialized Hospital “OHMATDIT” in Kyiv, in the other regions ‒ blood donation points, 9.00-11.00);
  • November 13 – the only national lesson within the national project “Safe Country” in secondary schools (video-lessons can be downloaded or broadcast from the Youtube-channel Safe Countryhttp://www.youtube.com/c/Безпечнакраїна);
  • November 13 – XIV International Scientific Conference on Transport Security: Legal and Organizational Aspects (Donetsk Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Kryvyi Rih, Mariupol, 10.00-14.00);
  • November 13 – summary of the competition for children’s drawings on the topic “Safe movement is my best friend”( Donetsk Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Kryvyi Rih, Mariupol, 10.00-14.00);
  • November 14 ‒ social road safety measures for children and parents Be safe with ŠKODA» (in compliance with all anti-epidemic measures, ŠKODA dealerships);
  • November 15 – funeral prayers for  the World Day of Remembrance of Road Accident Victims (during morning services in churches of all denominations).

Annual Road Safety Weeks in Ukraine are held to implement the decisions of the UN General Assembly in the framework of the Decade of Road Safety 2011-2020, the State Strategy and Program to improve road safety in Ukraine until 2020. RSWs activities are held twice a year with the assistance of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Committee on Transport and Infrastructure, the Government of Ukraine, and local self-government bodies. The coordinators of the events are the International Charitable Foundation “Assistance to Victims of Road Accidents” together with the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Research Institute of Transport Medicine” of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine (Kyiv Interregional Branch) and the Motor (Transport) Insurance Bureau of Ukraine. The Ministry of Infrastructure, the Ministry of Education and Science, the State Service for Transport Safety, the National Police, the Donetsk Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, and representatives of public and business communities, departments and organizations, members of the public and the media who are interested in the Week.
