An online Road Safety Forum was held during the Road Safety Week in Ukraine

An online Road Safety Forum was held on May 19 as part of the All-Ukraine Road Safety Week. Representatives of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Transport and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, the State Agency for Infrastructure Projects of Ukraine, the State Agency of Roads of Ukraine, the State Service of Ukraine for Transport Safety, the Motor (Transport) Insurance Bureau of Ukraine, the Donetsk Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, NGO “Association of Pedestrians of Ukraine” and others.

The measures implemented within the framework of the state target Strategy and Program for improving the level of road safety until 2020 and their impact on the current situation with road traffic injuries in the country were discussed, as well as plans to implement new, approved by the Government, Strategy and Programs to increase the level of road safety for the period up to 2023-2024.

They also discussed topical issues in the field of passenger and freight safety in Ukraine, training and certification of transport workers, the establishment of automation and digitalization of the industry. Plans for the construction and current overhaul of roads, bridges and interchanges, the introduction of new engineering solutions in road infrastructure, which will reduce the level of accidents on highways.

The issues of insurance settlement of the consequences of road accidents and some legal aspects of pedestrian protection were raised.
