Within the framework of the Road Safety Week in Ukraine, an annual All-Ukrainian charity campaign “Give Blood to Save Lives”, which aims to promote donation and help victims of road accidents.
Road traffic injuries remain the leading cause of death among young people aged 15-29 years. In general, every year, 3 thousand people die worldwide as a result of road accidents and about 100 thousand are seriously injured.
Unfortunately, during the full-scale war in Ukraine, the number of deaths and injuries on the roads has not decreased, so the need for blood donors in this difficult time has become more critical.
Therefore, the International Charitable Foundation “Assistance to Victims of Road Accidents” traditionally joined the national Road Safety Week and became a co-organizer of annual charity campaign “Give Blood to Save Lives”, which took place on November 17, 2022 and brought together representatives of a number of state authorities, enterprises and organizations.
In particular, the Foundation expresses its sincere gratitude to all the Blood centers in Ukraine, the Children’s Hospital “OHMATDYT”, which have joined to the campaign, as well as to the employees of the departments of the National Police of Ukraine, Patrol Police, Police Protection, Judicial Protection Service, Ukrtransecurity, the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in all regions and to all not indifferent donors who selflessly gave blood, filling up necessary supplies, during whole Week.
Only during November 17, more than 70 people donated blood in the hospital “OHMATDYT” and in the Kyiv Municipal Blood Center within the framework of the campaign.
During martial law, Blood Centers are working in the strengthened mode, so we call on to follow their announcements and to give blood not only within the framework of actions, but also outside them.
We remind you, that the International Charitable Foundation “Assistance to Victims of Road Accidents” in cooperation with State Enterprise “Ukrainian Research Institute of Transport Medicine” of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine traditionally joined the organization and participation in the events of the annual Road Safety Week.
The 2nd Stage of Road Safety Week was held under the topic “Road safety in conditions of martial law”.
In particular, the events of the Week related to the safety of children and youth on the roads, the relevance of wearing reflective elements in the dark and the ability to provide premedical care in emergency situations.
In cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Foundation held a traditional annual lesson on road safety in secondary schools, as well as summing up the results of the annual All-Ukrainian youth photo and video works competition of the national project “Safe Country”.
