We are pleased to inform you that we are launching an annual youth photo and video competition as part of the Safe Country national project. Its concept and purpose are the importance of propaganda in society and education among the younger generation of safe behavior, combating such phenomena as traffic violations, bullying, violence, pollution, fire safety, lack of algorithms in emergency situations and more.

The organizers of the competition are the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine together with the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, the International Charitable Foundation “Assistance to Victims of Road Accidents” and the Motor (Transport) Insurance Bureau of Ukraine, with the support of the National Police of Ukraine, the Ministry of Infrastructure, the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Research Institute of Transport Medicine” of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the Association of International Carriers of Ukraine, Kvinto Plus – the official distributor of Mobileye in Ukraine and others, as well as international partners – UNESCO World Club and International Action Art.

Theme of the competition

The national project “Safe Country” is gaining momentum, we are actively expanding the range of activities related to security. That is why two last year’s themes of the competition – “Youths for Road Safety” and “Anti-Bullying in Educational Institutions” – are supplemented by the possibility of performing a third studio video work on any of the topics of the “Safe Country” project: road safety, environmental safety, life safety, child safety. Students and pupils of educational institutions without age restrictions are invited to perform works on the first two topics, school TV studios, amateur production studios, creative teams of educational institutions are invited to perform studio video work.

According to the first two themes – of the competition – “Youths for Road Safety” and “Anti-bullying (harassment) in educational institutions” – photo – and / or video work should be aimed at promoting tolerant and safe behavior in educational institutions, on the streets and roads, prevention children’s injuries, to promote the rules of mutual respect, safe use of the Internet, compliance with traffic rules, in particular, wearing reflective elements, use of protective helmets when riding motorcycles and bicycles, seat belts in cars, etc.

In the third direction of the competition (collective work of school studios) –  the video should look like a journalistic story (report, interview, story, other genre), which raises issues of life safety, shows examples of insufficient attention to the organization of life safety, in particular, traffic on roads, at pedestrian crossings, dangerous for children routes to schools, use of vehicles in unauthorized places, spontaneous pedestrian crossings across the road, ignoring traffic lights, road signs and markings, incorrectly installed road signs, ignoring seat belts and child seats in cars; spontaneous garbage dumps, lack of garbage sorting, condition of parks and forests within settlements and outside the city; violations of fire safety rules in public places, irresponsible attitude to the organization of playgrounds, dangerous places for children’s games, such as construction and abandoned buildings; cases of incorrect treatment of children; organization of natural beaches; lack of conditions for home care, etc.

How to submit work

You can submit photo and video works for the competition online, by uploading them to a special platform on our website in the Competition section. In the same place, in the Regulations on the competition, see in more detail the conditions of the competition, the requirements for the competition works, the procedure for submission of works and their evaluation, etc. The deadline for submission of works is from September 1 to October 18, 2020. The works uploaded on the platform will be available for viewing, you can vote for them by likes.

Summarizing the results of the competition and awarding the winners is scheduled for November this year as part of the second stage of the Road Safety Week in Ukraine. The authors of the best photo and video works will be awarded diplomas and valuable gifts. The winning works will be displayed on the websites and social networks of the organizers, as well as possibly on other resources as social advertising.
